Triple Function Heat Pumps
Triple function heat pumps are a combination R and W series heat pump. Heating and cooling is provided via an air duct system controlled from a central thermostat.
Whenever the thermostat is satisfied the unit can automatically switch to hot water mode to supply heat to an in-floor heating system, swimming pool or any other hot water requirement.
A separate heat exchanger provides potable hot water during any run time operation.
Operation
In a typical home heating situation, the main thermostat would be set back to a point where heating via the duct system is not called for thus allowing the unit to switch to hot water making mode.
The individual room thermostats of the in-floor heating system then become the active controlling devices and maintain the desired temperature in each room.
Triple Function heat pumps are the solution for a home that requires in-floor heating in part or all of the structure while also requiring ducted cooling throughout the building.
